Influenced by 80's/90's extreme metal OmegaThrone sound Swedish but are actually Scousers. The new EP from Liverpool band, who got to final of the North Wales M2TM and have supported Malevolent Creation and Wode, strays with some static radio broadcasts of famous dictators and I'll admit my heart sank a little as I wondered if they were going to keep the production raw like so many bedroom black metal bands however as soon as Cancellation kicks off properly, the production is actually one of the best parts of this EP.
Clear and loud, you do lose the drums of co founding member OmegaP in the low end when co-founder OmegaM carves up the down tuned riffs along with Charlotte Rogers' bass. She is a new addition to the band since their 2020 debut album as is vocalist Jeff Moffat who clearly comes from the Karl Willerts, Martin van Drunen and Dave Ingram school of guttural shouting. Continuing three new brutal songs There's No Hatred As Great As Dictator's Love: Prelude To Empire brings together Swedish and British death metal with ferocious aggression and blastbeats aplenty. 7/10

OmegaThrone is back.
After a first album in 2020, the English band led by Marcin Lachovsky (guitar, ex-Sclavinia, ex-Innovation Threat) and Piotr Furieux (drums, Atanamir, ex-Innovation Threat) recruits Charlotte Rogers (bass) and J.J. Moffat (vocals, ex-Aftermath) to work on There’s No Hatred as Great as Dictator’s Love-Prelude to Empire, their new EP
After a blurred introductory sample from what seems to be several historical speeches, Cancellation comes to strike with energetic and groovy riffs supported by raw vocals and catchy sounds. The effective mix also lets some accelerations add an extra fix of violence to the Death Metal influences, then the solo will bring the track a layer of melodiousness before Drowning In Darkness comes to feed the strength surge with complex riffs. The song’s speed makes it extremely aggressive, but the band doesn’t forget heaviness or the ominous side with few muffled vocal parts. Melodic leads are still not far away, making a few minor appearances before letting the short but explosive Fear And Elegance close the EP in a mix of speed and raw efficiency, translated into an almost endless blast and energetic riffs.
With this short new EP, OmegaThrone proves to us that the band is still present in the scene, and that they intend to make themselves heard. There’s No Hatred as Great as Dictator’s Love-Prelude to Empire offers efficient and easy to listen riffs between Black/Death and Thrash/Groove.

OmegaThrone  are  a  band  from  Liverpool,  England  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2022  ep  "There's  No  Hatred  great  As  Dictator's  Love-Prelude  To  Empire"  which  will  be  released  towards  the  end  of  the  year.Static  sounds  and  political  samples  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  black  metal  elements. When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  while t he  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  brutal  sounding  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in a   brief  use  of  high  pitched  screams/Omega  Throne  plays  a  style  of  blackened  death  metal  that  is  very  heavy  and  brutal  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  violent  side  of  modern  politics. In  my  opinion  Omega  Throne  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Cancellation".  8  out  of  10.

World of Metal Mag

The title of this EP is somewhat long but the lyrical and conceptual component is something that you can feel is important in Omega Throne's sound. This British band combines the aesthetics of death and black metal and with the brutality they also add some melody. Unfortunately the EP is too short, not for us to be able to appreciate it but to feel the music growing. When we're getting excited by its approach, that's when it comes to an end. That's what the repeat button is for, but in any case you'll want to listen to them more often and check out their debut album released in 2020. Great Britain shows that it continues to be a source of good heavy music.

Liverpool (UK) Omega Throne follow up their debut release, In Loving Memory of Humankind, with their new EP, ‘’There’s No Hatred as Great as Dictator’s Love-Prelude to Empire,’’ A massive slab of old school death metal delivered with plenty of vitriol.

Featuring new members Jeff Moffat on guttural vocal duty and Charlotte Rogers on bass, Omega Throne have delivered three new tracks  ( Plus intro), and as “Fear and Elegance” displays with its warlike march, their music is tough and firmly rooted in aggression rather than downright speed, ‘’Cancellation’’ is a jackboot to the throat with its mid-tempo assault and ‘’Drowning In Darkness”  is all madness with audible bass slaps and massive doses unhinged fury. There is plenty of pure blasting with an emphasis on anger and the real world.

Omega Throne excels at their chosen craft of pure ferocious death metal that is influenced by Swedish melody. Whilst it may not contain any surprises, it is huge raw and defiant and worth a listen for any fan of the genre.

RG Heavy World

This slightly too long title hides an EP containing three songs lasting a total of about 12 minutes + intro. OmegaThrone is a team from England operating since 2017. In 2020, they released their debut album "In memory of humankind", which can be called death/black metal. A year later, there are quite serious changes in the line-up, new people appear on vocals and bass. And with a new line-up, the band releases a new promo EP recorded at Droom Recording studio in Liverpool by Marcin Lach. And you can hear that along with the changes in the lineup, the band's style changed. The influences of black metal have basically been removed and on the EP OmegaThrone serves us death/groove metal with visible influences of Entombed, At The Gates, groovy Sepultura - a similar atmosphere to that presented by our native Bottlekopf. It's very efficient, riff-based playing. Definitely more interesting in the faster fragments, because when they accelerate they are much more interesting. Therefore, instead of the more widely available "Cancellation" from the EP, it is much better to listen to the next one in the order "Drowning in Darkness", and even better to the nicely swinging "Fear and Elegance" which is the shortest and best composition on this short material. And I would definitely go this route. As you know, I'm not a big fan of this type of playing, but objectively it must be said that OmegaThrone deserve attention and support. And if any of you like this type of metal, you will definitely be satisfied.
